Why I Write.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why I’m doing this… putting myself through grueling writing sessions, studying up on the latest marketing techniques that are rumored to work, and hope beyond high hope that someone actually reads what I’m writing. And on top of it all, I’m a full-time undergrad student, so it’s not like I just have oodles of free time to kill.

So why on Earth the heck would I do this? It’s simple, really (okay, actually, it’s not simple at all – if you figure it out, would you tell me, please?). All kidding aside, writing stories is how I’m making sense of the world (yes, I know how cliché that sounds). I write because I find it therapeutic to live out a very different life through my characters, whether that be traveling to an alternate realm, or even just getting that cute musician to notice me (à la Scarlett in Just Like a Pill).

I’m officially a 20-something now, and I think that realization hit me like a ton of bricks. So writing lets me ask the questions I want answers to, and then I try to make sense of everything the best way I know how. I often jam to my favorite songs while writing (which, right now is Dalton Rapattoni’s new album, NOBODYS HOME, and if you like alternative pop, it is FANTASTIC! He made top 3 on American Idol season XV).

So, if you feel like nabbing a sample of my emotional writing endeavors, you can check them out on instafreebie, including these cool group giveaways this October:
